Maynard under boil water order | Health

The Department of Health has issued a boil water order for the entire Maynard Waterworks system.

The order is a precautionary measure following a main line break.

According to a release from Environmental Specialist Mark Jones, because of a loss of pressure, contaminated water may have possibly entered the distribution system.

All water for consumption or food preparation should be boiled for one minute prior to use.  Also, all ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water should be used for making ice.

The boil water notice will remain in effect until the problem has been corrected and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink.
