Head-on crash kills Pocahontas man
A Pocahontas man died Monday morning when his car collided head-on with a semi-truck.
The crash happened at 1:56 a.m. on Highway 67, four miles north of the Current River in Randolph County.
Arkansas State Police investigators say 50-year-old John W. Johnson of Pocahontas was northbound when his 2000 Hyundai crossed the center line and struck a 2012 Mack truck driven by 45-year-old Ralph T. Walrod of Poughkeepsie head-on.
Deputy Coroner Doug Thielemier pronounced Johnson dead at the scene. Walrod was taken to Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas with unknown injuries.
